The Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing -- International is the
only organization in the world that concentrates on solving common problems
facing manufacturers on every continent. Its members include some of the
largest, most well known industrial companies on the globe, including
Nokia, Sony, General Motors, AlliedSignal, Rockwell, Kodak, Boeing and
dozens of others. Consulting firms such as Ernst & Young and Arthur
Andersen along with government agencies and academic institutions also
comprise CAM-I's roster of members.
These organizations understand the value of shared research on
problems they cannot tackle alone. CAM-I's technical and management
projects include cost management systems, process planning, product
modeling, intelligent manufacturing systems, quality assurance, budgeting,
standards and education.
By working together CAM-I members are able to significant leverage
ideas, concepts and resources.
You can reach CAM-I, (pronounced kam-eye) at www.cam-i.org or by
calling president Woody Noxon at 817-860-1654.

The National Prototype Center provides industry with access to the
most advanced design and precision manufacturing systems available in the
United States today. Located at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant in Tennessee, the
Center assists companies in all stages of product design and manufacturing.
Companies can utilize more than 1,000 machine tools, unique
instruments and facilities that are worth more than $10 billion. The Center
employs 5,500 trained manufacturing craftsmen and 1,500 scientists and
engineers. These specialists have a complete understanding of the entire
manufacturing process, from advanced materials to quality assurance.
The National Prototype Center can work with you at any stage of your
product or process. It can analyze requirements, design prototypes, develop
manufacturing processes, fabricate and verify prototypes and create
first-production articles. It is America's place for making things nobody
else can make.
The Center can be reached via the Web at orcmt.oakridge.org/npc.html or
